Abstract

SummaryThis paper reflects on the manufacturing strategies that have been developed and introduced during the lifecycle of the BAe 146 and identifies the lessons that have been learned. It first describes the pragmatic, manufacturing-led initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality and delivery and then addresses some of the wider business-led issues which can only be resolved by changes in culture and attitudes. It concludes by showing how the RJX would benefit from the application of these concepts and techniques.
