Abstract

The application of triggering systems in high energy physics experiments and the kind of criteria used in triggering systems with wire chambers are briefly discussed. A few examples of applications are given, in particular: multiplicity, direction, coplanarity, small-angle scattering, and momentum triggers. Triggering systems of dimuon and charmed particle production experiments performed at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron are described.
