Abstract

It is necessary to modify the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with an organic coupling agent for better dispersion. Therefore, at first, the surface of TiO2 NPs was modified with bioactive dicarboxylic acid containing L-valine. Then, for studying the effect of surface modification on dispersion of TiO2 NPs, poly(amide-imide)/TiO2 nanocomposites (PAI/TiO2 NCs) were successfully fabricated through ultrasonic technique. First, the PAI containing L-valine amino acid was synthesized via polycondensation of N,N′-(pyromellitoyl)-bis-L-valine diacid with 4,4′-diaminodiphenylsulfone. Second, PAI/TiO2 NCs containing 5, 10, and 15 wt% of modified TiO2 NPs were prepared. The properties of the NCs were studied by different techniques.
