Abstract
The finite strip method is extended to analyze flawed structures and to calculate the stress intensity factors. By incorporating the Williams expansion in the spline finite strip displacement model a cracked strip for plane problems is developed, which can be easily inserted into a standard finite strip computer program. Numerical examples are given and compared with previous results to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the present method.
