Abstract

It has been shown that carrier free solutions of Ag 110 m NO 3 are not suitable for detecting prints of papillary lines by autoradiographic method. But 0·01 N carrier solutions of AgNO 3 labelled with Ag 110 m having maximal specific activity 2·0–2·5 μc/ml can be used for detecting fingerprints by this method. An empirical equation was derived which gives the exact exposure time of the radioactive specimens on the photographic film to obtain the best autoradiographs. To calculate this the counting rate in cpm of a 0·1 ml portion of the solution used and the investigated specimen under the same geometrical conditions.
