Abstract
The circular-crested weir is used for flow measurement and water level control in irrigation systems. It is also applied to flood and reservoir level control. In this study potential flow around the upper half of the circular cylinder is adapted to formulate the crest velocity distribution, the maximum crest velocity, the normalized crest pressure, and the pressure correction coefficient of a circular-crested weir. The obtained equations were validated by experimentation. This study shows that these equations agree well with the experimental observations.
