Abstract

Objective To discuss the clinical effectiveness of personalized care combined with Orem self-care theory in patients with lung neoplasms. Methods Totally 94 cases of patients with lung cancer in our hospital from March 2015 to January 2016, were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, with 47 cases in each group. All patients were given the same radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment. Patients in the control group were also given routine clinical nursing, while patients in the experimental group received personalized care based on Orem self-care theory. The scores of self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS), dyspnea, pain, sleep quality and nursing satisfaction between two groups were compared. Results After the intervention, the scores of SAS and SDS, dyspnea, pain and sleep quality in the experimental group were better than the control group (P<0.05); and the patient satisfaction in the experimental group was significantly higher than the experimental group (P<0.05). Conclusions Personalized care based on Orem self-care theory can effectively reduce the sufferings of patients, improve patient satisfaction and reduce medical disputes. It has great value in the clinical application. Key words: Lung neoplasms; Personalized care; Orem self-care theory
