Abstract
This paper adopts the position of international academic organizations to reflect the academic influence of research institutions, and constructs the position index of international academic organizations. The index includes three steps: determining the scope of international academic organizations, collecting and cleaning the position data of international academic organizations, and calculating the position score of research institutions. The 18 international geological academic organizations are selected as research samples, and 333 positions of international academic organizations are collected for empirical analysis. The research results show that the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia are the five countries with the largest number of positions. The 333 positions are distributed in 249 institutions, among which the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences has 12 positions, the largest number of positions.
