Abstract

We demonstrate the harmonic generation of the femtosecond pulses propagated in the vicinity of solid targets. The harmonics were observed in the case of double-pulse scheme while using different solids (metals, nanoparticle, and microparticle powders). The efficiency and cut-off of harmonic generation using double-pulse scheme were varied depending on the target and compared with the commonly used method of the laser ablation by the picosecond pulses. The simplicity of this method allows its application in the nonlinear spectroscopy of solids.
