Abstract
This paper presents a compact support radial basis function (CSRBF) based technique for solving one dimensional electrostatic and radiation problem viz. capacitance extraction of semi-infinite conducting strip and solution of Hallen's integral equation for a thin dipole antenna using fewer number of basis. Here overlapping CSRBFs are used along with point matching on both uniform and non-uniform mesh. It is observed that the CSRBF is more capable in approximating the field distributions incorporating edge singularities. Comparative study with solutions obtained using pulse basis, RBF and exact solution (if available) shows a steady improvement, achieved by the proposed technique, in the case of both the electrostatic and the full-wave problem.
