Abstract

Objective To investigate the curative effect of central venous catheter closed drainage on patients with delayed hemothorax caused by multiply rib fracture. Methods Sixty cases of delayed hemothorax caused by multiply rib fracture were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group (30 cases) were treated with central venous catheter closed thoracic drainage, and the control group (30 cases) were given conventional thoracentesis. The pull out the tube time, average length of stay, pain score, the numbers of tube piugging, the numbers of pneumoderm and the numbers of infection at the tube of the two groups were observed. Results There was no significant difference in the pull out the tube time between the two groups (P>0.05). The average length of stay, the pain score and the infection numbers of drainage tube in the experimental group were less than those in the control group, the differences were significant (P 0.05). Conclusions In the patients with delayed hemothorax caused by multiply rib fracture, the average length of stay can be reduced the pain can be reduced and by using the central venous catheter closed drainage, and it is worthy of clinical reference. Key words: Central venous catheter; Drainage; Rib fracture; Delayed hemothorax
