Abstract
A computer method to allow control and prediction of pipe type cable conductor temperatures by the system operator, has been developed and implemented in the Florida Power and Light Company system. The programs used are part of a real-time operating computer network. Through the use of a well established thermal modeling technique and transmitted cable insulation shield temperatures and recorded conductor currents, accurate conductor temperatures have been calculated.
