Abstract

Nationality is a legal bond between a person and a State. Nationality provides people with a sense of identity but, more importantly, enables them to exercise a wide range of rights. The lack of nationality, i.e., statelessness, can therefore be harmful, in some cases devastating for the lives of the individuals concerned. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights clearly states that “everyone has the right to a nationality” and that “no-one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality.” Despite this guarantee, people in all parts of the world face the prospect of living without the rights and lack the security and protection which such nationality can provide. Stateless person is someone who is not considered as a national by any state, protection of stateless person was always considered as a challenge by International Community. Some people are born stateless, but others become stateless. In this research paper the author will examine the problems which are faced by stateless person throughout the world.
