Abstract

Anxiety is a highly prevalent mental disorder in today’s adolescent population. It can sometimes lead to severe physical and mental impairment. Several adolescent population-specific factors make this age group particularly vulnerable to the development of anxiety. Providers and the medical team must be diligent in recognizing subtle signs of adolescent anxiety and implement prompt treatment of this disorder. Untreated anxiety can have detrimental consequences later in life.
