Abstract

A double antibody antigen-binding assay for the detection of human IgG antibodies to the bovine milk allergen β-lactoglobulin is described. The levels of such antibodies in patients with established cows' milk protein intolerance were significantly higher than the levels observed in a healthy control group ( P < 0.01). The assay showed excellent correlation with a solid phase antigen binding assay ( r s = 0.8, P < 0.001).
