Abstract

Developments in arthroscopic technology have allowed surgeons to perform anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using autologous bone-patellar tendon-bone (BTB) graft endoscopically. Recent short-term follow-up studies have shown excellent results using the endoscopic technique. Middle-term studies have shown continued excellent results with the two-incision technique of ACL reconstruction as well. This article presents our preferred technique for performing ACL reconstruction endoscopically, identifies pitfalls that may lead to poor results, and offers means by which these pitfalls may be avoided. Techniques for performing ACL reconstruction with allograft BTB and using the two-incision technique are also discussed.
