Abstract

This paper proposes a binary bat algorithm (BBA) for antenna topology optimization. Bat algorithm inspired by the bat echolocation has a quick convergence rate and is not easy to fall into local optimum. Design results of a compact dual-band monopole antenna are presented, showing that the proposed method outperforms the commonly used binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) in terms of convergence rate.
