Abstract

SummaryDogs received 5 mg dicumarol/kg orally and 13.05 mg vit. K1 or 5 mg of vit. K3/kg, orally or intravenously on Day 0, Day 3, or Days 1, 2, 3 after dicumarol. Values for prothrombin time, prothrombin concentration, Factor VII, Factor × were determined. Vit. K1 and K3 were equally effective oral antagonists when given with dicumarol, but vit. K1 was much more effective on intravenous administration. When given on the third day after dicumarol, both vit. K1 and K3 had an antidotal effect but vit. K1 was much more effective.
