Abstract

Neutron diffraction studies of magnetic order in epitaxial magnetic semiconductor superlattices [(ZnTe) ¦ (MnTe)] have revealed long-range coupling between antiferromagnetic layers of MnTe interleaved with thin (4–6 atomic planes) layers of ZnTe. Both in-phase and anti-phase couplings have been observed with a gradual transfer (in samples with thinner ZnTe layers) between the two forms of ordering as temperature is increased.
