Abstract

The main objective of the investigation work was to analyze the trend of shrimp exports and its influence on the country's economy from 2015 to 2019, to know how much contribuyes the aquaculture PIB to the national PIB. The evolution of the shrimp sector in Ecuador was analyzed to determine how it has been its growth in exports in recent years, having as report that within the years studied the best export growth rate was 2019, selling a total of 1,397,490.3 pounds which represents 3,652,684 dollars being China the main country that imports our product; in turn the development of prices was reviewed and the factors that influence its variation were determined. The best year for the price of shrimp was in 2014, when the price per pound was $3.75 and declined to $2.61 in 2019. Through this investigation it was obtained that for 2019 the contribution of Shrimp Aquaculture and Fishing to the Agricultural PIB was 16.57% and 1.27% to the National PIB, this represents a good income to the country's economy.
