Abstract

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is benign bony lesions mostly seen in the paediatric population, as a congenital occurrence. Mostly seen in long bones but cases are reported of this lesion to be present in mandible that too affecting children or young adults. Here we report a very rare existence of aneurysmal bone cyst in a 60 year old female who reported to us with pain and swelling in the right lower front jaw region since 6 months along with difficulty in chewing. At first instance provisional diagnosis of reparative giant cell lesion was made which was confirmed as aneurysmal bone cyst of mandible post surgical histopathological examination. There are standard procedures and approaches for specific lesions but when it comes to maxillofacial region aesthetics is a big concern so this large ABC was resected via intraoral approach.
