Abstract
ABSTRACT USING brittle plate theory, equations for the seedling emergence force as the seedling penetrates vertically through a crusted soil were developed for (a) grasses and cereals (point load), and (b) dicotyloedonous crops (dis-tributed load over a circle of diameter equal to hypocotyl diameter).
