Abstract

ABSTRACT The paper presents analytic means for taking the saturation into account while solving leakage reactances of an induction motor. Two well known approximations for the actual magnetization curve are compared, especially in conjunction with the problems arising in the topic in question. The specific permeance of the tooth-tip leakage for one particular slot shape was calculated analytically, using an approximated magnetization curve. The results are compared with those obtained using the actual curve. The prospects for utilization of the analytic results in solving the short-circuit reactance are also discussed. A procedure closely related to the methods described in several earlier papers, but which leads perhaps to a simpler method of calculation, is suggested.
