India's Goods and Services Tax (GST), launched in 2017 as GST 1.0, fundamentally transformed the country's indirect tax framework by unifying multiple tax streams. On September 22, 2025, GST 2.0 was implemented, introducing a streamlined two-slab system (5 percent and 18 percent), extensive rate reductions across more than 375 items, and enhanced compliance protocols. This study employs official government data and projections to assess these reforms' structural and economic implications. Results indicate consumer savings of approximately 13 percent on household groceries and highlight potential short-term revenue adjustments. While reforms foster affordability and economic growth, challenges remain in broad sectoral inclusion. Key recommendations include integrating petroleum products into GST and advancing AI-enabled compliance.

Preventive intervention with a depressed mother with mental retardation and her infant: A quantitative case study
 • Jan 1, 1990
 • Infant Mental Health Journal
 • Myra Leifer + 1 more

A quantitative single case study is presented to illustrate how an early intervention program treated a depressed mother with mental retardation and her infant son. Drawing upon an ecological model of development, the case study utilized a multimethod, longitudinal approach to assess the infant's developmental competence and attachment status, the mother's history and current emotional and intellectual functioning, mother-infant social transactions, and components of the family's social ecology. Measures were administered during a baseline period, systematically repeated throughout the 1-year period of intervention, and repeated at the conclusion of treatment. The treatment consisted of individual therapy sessions for the mother. The infant was present in these sessions in order to make the interaction problems immediately salient and therefore more easily explored in the therapeutic relationships. The findings indicated increased maternal and infant competence and more adaptive patterns of mother-infant social transaction. Therapeutic issues in providing preventive intervention to this high-risk population of mothers and infants are discussed.

INFORMATION PROCESSING AS LEARNING STRATEGY: THE CASE OF GRAPHIC ORGANISERS
 • Apr 22, 2020
 • European Journal of Education Studies
 • Noor Hanim Rahmat

The use of information processing is one of many language learning skills learners can use to help them strategize their learning. One example of information processing is through the use of graphic organisers. It has been reported that learners use different strategies to lean a new language. However, the use of these language learning strategies is further facilitated with the help of graphic organisers. Furthermore, using graphic organisers is compensatory strategy where leaners replaces written information to pictures. While doing so, learners are able to use their metacognitive strategies to make plans for more learning. In addition to that, learning another language is less challenging when they do not have as much previous background of words as they had in their mother tongue. The use of graphic organisers helped learners learn language in a less wordy way; perhaps even in a less threatening environment. This quantitative case study used survey as the instrument to investigate how language learners fell about the use of graphic organisers as part of their language-related activities. The instrument uses 5 Likert scale and has 4 sections. Section A is the demographic profile, section B is the Cognitive Overload, section C is the Schema and Section D is the Dual Coding. Findings revealed interesting pedagogical implications towards the use of graphic organisers in the language classrooms. Article visualizations:

A conceptual framework of riparian ecosystem management and its key problems
 • Jul 25, 2007
 • Geographical Research
 • Huang Kai Guo Huai-Cheng

As the ecotone of the aquatic ecosystem and terrestrial ecosystem, riparian ecosystem has unique vegetation, soil, topography, geomorphology and hydrology features and a series of environmental, social and economic functions.Hence to improve the management of resources, ecology and environment of the riparian ecosystem for sustainable development of watershed has become a significant issue in the watershed ecology and ecosystem ecology. The characteristics of the riparian ecosystem were analyzed. The riparian ecosystem was the result of three-dimensional interaction between terrestrial ecosystem and aquatic ecosystem. As a typical ecotone, the frequent anthropogenic disturbances, geomorphological process and hydrological process could influence the riparian ecosystem in the ecological process and species succession.According to the aim of ecosystem management, the uniqueness, complexity and dynamics of the riparian ecosystem should be taken into account. After introduction of the progress in the riparian ecosystem management, the concept and elements of the riparian ecosystem management were defined.A practical process for riparian ecosystem management was given in this paper, which consisted of seven steps. The first one is scoping of object, area, stakeholders, etc.,then comes to the problem diagnosis. The third step is goal setting, including broad and operational goals. After the above processes, the riparian ecosystem was integratively assessed,in which ecosystem health and integrity were taken as indictors for assessing ecosystem structure, and ecosystem service was valued to reflect ecosystem function. The management policy and its implementation was the sixth step, which was the most important one in this process, and feedback and adaptive adjustment was the last step in the process.Four key problems were identified for riparian ecosystem management, including the research scales, the riparian width of management, the coordination of ecological values and local riparian ecosystem management. According to the developments and present studies on the riparian ecosystem management, the theory of the riparian ecosystem management, induction of ecological model, application of the interdisciplinary approaches, application of the 3S technologies and modern mathematics method as well as quantitative case study should be the front problems for further studies of the riparian ecosystem management.

Decomposed S-Boxes and DPA Attacks: A Quantitative Case Study Using PRINCE
 • Jan 1, 2016
 • Ravikumar Selvam + 3 more

Lightweight ciphers become indispensable and inevitable in the ubiquitous smart devices. However, the security of ciphers is often subverted by various types of attacks, especially, implementation attacks such as side-channel attacks. These attacks emphasise the necessity of providing efficient countermeasures. In this paper, our contribution is threefold: First, we propose a method to choose the efficient decomposition of S-box in terms of area. Then we slightly alter the widely used formula to improve the accuracy for weighted sum estimation of the shared S-Box and present the practical implementation of two level decomposition using PRINCE S-Box. Finally, we present the first quantitative study on the efficacy of Transparency Order (TO) of decomposed S-Boxes in thwarting a side-channel attack. For PRINCE S-Box we observe that TO-based decomposed implementation has better DPA resistivity than the naive implementation. To benchmark the DPA resistivity of TO(decomposed S-Box) implementation we arrive at an efficient threshold implementation of PRINCE, which itself merits to be an interesting contribution.

The use of multitreatment modalities in early intervention: A quantitative case study
 • Jun 1, 1989
 • Infant Mental Health Journal
 • Myra Leifer + 4 more

A quantitative single case study is presented to illustrate how an early intervention program used two therapeutic modalities to treat a depressed mother and her 2-month-old son. Drawing upon an ecological, transactional model of development, the case study utilized a multimethod, longitudinal approach to assess the infant's developmental competence and attachment status, the mother's history and current psychosocial functioning, patterns of mother-infant interaction, and components of the family's social ecology. Measures were administered during a baseline period to assess pre-intervention functioning and were systematically repeated throughout the 2-year period of intervention. The treatment modalities included psychodynamically oriented individual therapy and Parent-Infant Relationship Treatment (PIRT) in which the dyad was also seen by a second therapist to foster more adaptive mother-infant transactional patterns. The findings indicated increased infant developmental competence and a shift from an insecure to a secure attachment classification, improved maternal psychosocial functioning, and a decline in the dyadic interactional pattern of maternal intrusiveness and infant withdrawal. The advantages of using two treatment modalities and a single case approach to evaluation are discussed.

Villages suburb area around the border with the city of Denpasar is one of the area that’s also effected by the economic growth in Denpasar city. The area was settled by people due to sub-urban residential land in Denpasar increasingly difficult to reach and limited, especially those located in the center of Denpasar City. It makes people prefer living in the satellite city of Denpasar. The area included in the district of Gianyar, Badung, and Tabanan regency. This study aims to determine the preference that are considered sub-urban communities to choose satellite settlements in Denpasar. This study uses the positivist approach with merging between qualitative and quantitative case study. The research result obtained five factors are considered sub-urban communities to choose satellite settlements in Denpasar, among others: accessibility, availability of shopping facilities, environmental conditions, availability of electricity, and the pierce of land/house. Thus, accessibility becomes a major factors in the selection of the sub-urban residential location in the satellite city of Denpasar. Index Terms— preference, settlement, sub-urban, sattellite settlement

Costs and benefits of using cross-docking in the retail supply chain
 • Apr 8, 2019
 • International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management
 • Yassine Benrqya

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the costs/benefits of implementing the cross-docking strategy in a retail supply chain context using a cost model. In particular, the effects of using different typologies of cross-docking compared to traditional warehousing are investigated, taking into consideration an actual case study of a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company and a major French retailer. Design/methodology/approach The research is based on a case study of an FMCG company and a major French retailer. The case study is used to develop a cost model and to identify the main cost parameters impacted by implementing the cross-docking strategy. Based on the cost model, a comparison of the main cost factors characterizing four different configurations is made. The configurations studied are, the traditional warehousing strategy (AS-IS configuration, the reference configuration for comparison), where both retailers and suppliers keep inventory in their warehouses; the cross-docking pick-by-line strategy, where inventory is removed from the retailer warehouse and the allocation and sorting are performed at the retailer distribution centre (DC) level (TO-BE1 configuration); the cross-docking pick-by-store strategy, where the allocation and sorting are done at the supplier DC level (TO-BE2 configuration); and finally a combination of cross-docking pick-by-line strategy and traditional warehousing strategy (TO-BE3 configuration). Findings The case study provides three main observations. First, compared to traditional warehousing, cross-docking with sorting and allocation done at the supplier level increases the entire supply chain cost by 5.3 per cent. Second, cross-docking with allocation and sorting of the products done at the retailer level is more economical than traditional warehousing: a 1 per cent reduction of the cost. Third, combining cross-docking and traditional warehousing reduces the supply chain cost by 6.4 per cent. Research limitations/implications A quantitative case study may not be highly generalisable; however, the findings form a foundation for further understanding of the reconfiguration of a retail supply chain. Originality/value This paper fills a gap by proposing a cost analysis based on a real case study and by investigating the costs and benefits of implementing different configurations in the retail supply chain context. Furthermore, the cost model may be used to help managers choose the right distribution strategy for their supply chain.
