Abstract

The two-electrode gas switch has been widely used in ShengGuang-III power conditioning system, while due to triggered by a negative high-voltage nanosecond pulse, high frequency transient overvoltage could be inevitably produced and transmit in the power conditioning system, leading to insulation and electromagnetic interference problems. In order to increase the reliability of the power conditioning system, the triggering process was analyzed and simulated by using PSPICE simulation software, a high-frequency ceramic capacitor was proposed as the suppressing device to reduce the transient overvoltage. Emulational and experimental results showed a good agreement on the waveforms of the transient overvoltage and the suppression effect of the ceramic capacitor. The amplitude of the transient overvoltage can be decreased from negative 40 to 10 kV, the suppressing device had been successful used in ShengGuang-III power conditioning system.
