Abstract

The doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is a standout amongst the most extensively used generators in wind turbines owing to its variable speed operation, power control, littler converter limit, and network tie possibility. The power electronic converters assume a key role in wind energy conversion system for controlling and conditioning of the output power from wind energy. These power electronic converters may undergo different fault conditions which may influence the performance of the system, so the fault in power electronics is considered as a noteworthy issue. The performance of doubly fed induction generator based wind energy conversion system in power electronic converter fault conditions has been analyzed in this paper. The impact of short circuit and open circuit fault in the switches of grid side and rotor side converters has been explore by means of MATLAB simulation. DFIG based wind energy conversion system in case of healthy condition and faulty condition were analyzed.
