Abstract

E-procurement refers to the use of integrated information technology systems for procurement functions, including sourcing, negotiation, ordering, receipt and post-purchased review. E-procurement benefits both buyer and seller. The use of this technology by medium sized firms is a big question mark because of many inhibitors and resistors. There are many factors that affect the adoption of this technology. One such factor is supplier related factors. This research empirically tests the role of supplier related factors on e-procurement adoption decisions. Empirical survey of 432 samples was collected from the production executives of medium sized business firms in the Tamilnadu using structured questionnaire. The finding reveals that the supplier related factor namely supplier participation influence more to adopt e-procurement and the factor dependency on suppliers influences less. Results indicate that there is a high influence of supplier related factors on adoption decisions by medium sized businesses.
