Abstract

With the complexity of power network, the weak link between connected systems becomes more and more fragile. As an important part of wide area protection system (WAPS), wide area backup protection system's (WABPS's) delay characteristics have raised more and more attention. To solve this problem, this paper has a research on the State Power Data Network (SPDnet) and discusses the application of phasor measurement unit (PMU) devices based on global position system (GPS) in WABPS. Through the analysis of the mesh topology, the progress of applying this structure in the network to realize data transmission between adjacent sub-station is discussed. Finally, we verify the feasibility of the network structure by OPNET.
