Abstract

Future “Intelligent vehicles” will have an integrated communication system to connect to different kind of services. Among those services are future Long Term Evolution (LTE) mo- bile communication and Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T) with the special issue that both are prone to interference from each other, because the harmonized spectrum band 790–862 MHz available due to Digital Switch Over (DSO) is allocated for mobile cellular applications typically LTE-800. The harmonized spectrum band is proximate and adjacent to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) broadcasts which will continue to occupy the spectrum up to 790 MHz. The LTE downlink signal from base station (eNB) to mobile terminal (MT) is high energy signal. The DVB-T broadcasting end channels (58 to 60) is interfered by the high energy LTE-DL signal. To avoid this interference various studies are conducted such as using transmitter mask at the LTE eNB transmitter, reducing the power of the LTE eNB, interference mitigation, etc. The aim of this paper is to over come the interference and co-existence challenges by filtering the LTE interference to get a useful DVB-T Signal. Diverse factors in the filter design are used and compared, in order to choose the best filter design in the system.
