Although many studies have examined the contrastive analysis of Ilmu Ma'ani in Arabic and Indonesian styles, few have analyzed it from the perspective of students at Islamic universities in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to examine students' perceptions of Islamic universities in Indonesia regarding the comparison between Islamic science in Arabic and Indonesian styles. Using the theory of Sheikh Ahmad bin Abdurrahman ad-Damanhuri in Arabic and the theory of Jusuf Sjarif Badudu in Indonesian, along with content analysis and unstructured interviews, the results of this study show that (1) there are similarities between the eight chapters in ma'ani science and the eight discussions in Indonesian language style, including isnad, which is similar to a clause, musnad ilaih which is similar to the subject, musnad which is similar to the predicate, muta'alliqatul fi'li which is similar to the object, al-qashr which is similar to the contradiction interminus, al-insya' (al-amr, al istifham and al tamanni) which is similar to the interactive, interrogative, assumption, al-washl and al fashl which are similar to sidenton, asidenton, and al-ithnab, al-jaz and al musawah which are similar to ellipsis, redundancy (2) Students' perceptions show that the discussion of ma'ani in Arabic is similar to the discussion of Indonesian style. Indonesian in terms of definitions and examples, but in both discussions, there are very significant differences in terms of division, application in text, and depth of discussion, including the clarity of Arabic sentence meaning and the existence of Arabic sentences that cannot be adequately represented by Indonesian, either in translation or in rules. The results of this study imply that the eight chapters in ma'ani science have equivalents in Indonesian stylistics, but there are also differences between the two discussions because they originate from two different languages.

People with disabilities often have unequal access to education. Most higher education institutions and universities in Indonesia still have discriminatory practices. The main factors that affect people with disabilities are the lack of infrastructure and limited budget allocation. In Indonesian Islamic higher education institutions, many policies related to the development of education have not considered persons with disabilities. This study used a normative research method which examined legal policies for people with disabilities in Islamic universities in Indonesia. This study is essential to understand the legal policies in Islamic universities for people with disabilities. In addition, this study also provided an analysis of the compatibility between Fiqh related to equality for people with disabilities and legal policies in Islamic universities in Indonesia. • Lukman

The purpose of this study is to reveal the influence and dangers of orientalism at Islamic universities in Indonesia. Research method with qualitative approach. The research results or findings from this study are many Islamic universities in Indonesia have been infected and influenced by Orientalist understanding in understanding religion. Orientalist methodologies and scholarship have been widely used and taught in Islamic campuses without any criticism and adjustment to Islamic teachings. So that it has an impact on the understanding and perspective of students and lecturers on Islamic campuses, there are those who then think that all religions are true, it is permissible to marry between different religions, you can't be panicky about religion, question the authenticity of the Qur'an and other understandings of relativism. Of course, these kinds of ideas deviate from the teachings of Islam which is perfect from all sides. Then it becomes a challenge and obligation for Islamic universities to refer back to important concepts in every Islamic discipline and apply it in the context of contemporary sciences in response to 'scientific' approaches this modern era.

  • Strategic Policy Towards a World-Class University: An Indonesian Islamic University Experience
  • Usman Usman + 1 more

A world-class university is a primary goal of most universities, including Islamic universities in Indonesia. Research about a strategic policy of universities toward a world-class university (WCU) has been conducted. However, few researchers have explored the strategic policy of Islamic universities to achieve world-class status, particularly in Indonesia. Responding to the gap, this research aims to examine the strategic policy implemented by an Islamic university in Indonesia (i.e., UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta) toward a world-class university. In addition, this research also reveals potential challenges encountered by the university in becoming a world-class university. This research employed a case study design involving selected three informants: (1) the head of quality assurance of UIN Sunan Kaliaga Yogyakarta; (2) an expert in strategic policy of higher education; and (3) an expert of policy and management in higher education. An in-depth interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) were conducted with the informants to gather the required data. The findings depicted that UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has implemented several indicators of a world-class university, such as designing an international curriculum, building partnerships with international universities, and organizing international standardized programs of human resources development. However, the university also encountered several challenges, such as a lack of internationally reputable professors, a lack of international students, and a lack of independence in terms of facility and financial issues. In conclusion, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has not been recognized as a world-class university, but it is continuously developing toward a world-class status. This research offers both theoretical and practical contributions to developing Islamic universities in Indonesia toward a world-class university.

This qualitative descriptive writing with a literature study aims to discuss the holistic-integrative integration of Islamic knowledge in higher education in Indonesia. The data analysis technique uses content analysis by sorting data according to the research objectives and problems. This research found the following two things. First, in essence, the integration of Islamic scholarship from holistic-integrative postmodernism-era thinkers is a criticism of the normative-theological Islamic scientific paradigm of the traditionalism era as well as a criticism of the empirical-sociological Islamic paradigm of the modernism era. Second, the essence of the integration of Islamic science in the postmodern era of religious universities in Indonesia is to end the dichotomy of science and religious science for scientific construction in the future. This study used qualitative method, the data source consists of informants and documentation, as well as data collection techniques carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus group discussions and documentation review. As results, the application of science integration patterns in several Islamic universities turns out to be different, based on different understanding of the concept of science integration and local socio-cultural settings, according to the their respective established backgrounds. The State Islamic University (UIN) generally applies integration, not Islamization, by combining Islamic science and general science. This is stated in the vision and mission of higher education. As for practice, the implementation of science integration is applied to the faculty through direct policy from the university. In general, Islamic universities in Indonesia have already had a philosophical paradigm, by carrying out a distinctive concept of science integration. In the elaboration aspect of the integration paradigm, it is reflected in the applied curriculum. However, from the explanation, science integration actually aims at integrating religious disciplines with modern technology and science, which is implemented in Islamic higher education in Indonesia. In developing the concept of science integration in each UIN in Indonesia, it has editorial diversity and contextual elaboration with the environment and culture of respective regions.
