Abstract

The utility grid under analysis is composed by two real feeders from CEMIG (Itajuba Electrical Energy Company), which are operating in Itajuba. The feeders are identified as IJAU10 and IJAU11 and distribute energy to a parcel of load in the Avenida, Sao Vicente, Boa Vista, BPS, Pinheirinho, Morro Chic, Vila Isabel and Centro neighbourhoods. Although the IJAU10 and IJAU11 feeders operate radially, they present possibilities of altering the topology by opening or closing switches. These switches, when elaborated by the operator of the CEMIG operations centre, increase the collective continuity indicators, DEC and FEC, and the individual continuity indicators DIC, FIC and DMIC of the utility grid. The modelling and simulation of the feeders will be done through the drawing environment of the software ATP Draw (Alternative Transient Program). The software allows the operator to perform tests and simulations to analyse possible current and voltage transients in the feeders before sending the switch item to the field team to begin maintenance. Thus, it is intended to analyse the influence of switches on the current profile in the feeders and voltage at the high priority loads, that such feeders supply in different demand scenarios. In addition, considerable transients may arise due to the switches, which makes this analysis indispensable for real maintenance actions.
