Abstract

Objective To analyze possible correlation factors concerning early visual acuity of high volume cataract surgery. Methods Clinical data before and after cataract surgery were collected from 1500 patients recruited in high volume cataract surgery.Possible correlation factors (gender, age, laterality of the eye, preoperative visual acuity, intraocular pressure, corneal curvature, axial length, lens core grading, type of surgery, systemic diseases, etc) concerning early visual acuity and posterior capsular tear were analyzed by Logistic regressions. Results Early visual acuity was closely correlated with maculopathy before surgery, age, and posterior capsular tear.Posterior capsular tear was closely correlated with high myopia (long axial length). Conclusions Early visual acuity is an important indicator to evaluate efficacy of high volume cataract surgery.Much attention should be paid to influence of posterior capsular tear on early visual acuity alter cataract surgery. Key words: High volume cataract surgery; Visual prognosis; Complications
