Abstract

- Information security is becoming significantly more crucial for data transmission and storage due to the rapid development of digital information exchange in digital mode. Since the information is private, it is crucial that only authorized individuals have access to it. Hence, in order to protect information security systems from unwanted attacks, cryptography has emerged as a key solution. This security feature scrambles data using some algorithms into incomprehensible text that can only be decoded by the entity possessing the appropriate key. The two most popular symmetric encryption methods, data encryption standard (DES) and advanced encryption standard (AES), and an asymmetric algorithm RSA have both been implemented in this paper using the Python programming language. The algorithms are compared based on the metric Avalanche effect by changing the single character of plain text from different places.
