Abstract

Abstract As an application of the two-dimensional integral expressions derived previously by the author, the available experimental data of the radial distribution g(r) of gold nuclei formed during metal vapour deposition on to a (100) surface of KCl in ultra-high vacuum are analysed. By an iterative numerical procedure, we solved the BGY, PY and HNC integral equations using g(r) to obtain the gold nuclei interaction potential ⊘(r). The present analyses verify the presence of repulsive forces between the nuclei. In addition, however, they also indicate the presence of a longer-ranged attractive interaction. Other observations are also reported.
