Abstract

Recently, the double-sided linear synchronous motor has attracted more and more attention from researchers. In this paper, a novel moving-magnet-type linear synchronous motor which can be used in electromagnetic launch systems and with a ring structure winding is investigated. The analytical model of the moving-magnet-type linear synchronous motor with ring structure winding is established. And the magnetic flux density distribution of the novel linear synchronous motor is solved analytically and validated by the finite element method. A prototype motor is manufactured in laboratories and some experiments are carried out with the prototype which indicate the moving-magnet-type linear synchronous motor with ring structure winding is reasonable.
