Abstract
The rotor eddy current loss (RECL) is quite significant in the high-speed surface-mounted permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor, and there are various ways to reduce the RECL. In this paper, the influence of four segmented rotor structures (axially segmented sleeve, circumferentially segmented PMs, axially segmented PMs, sleeve and PMs are segmented along the axial and circumferential directions respectively) on RECL is studied through three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). Based on this, the applicability of the rotor segmented structure to the RECL dissipation with different sleeve materials is further analyzed. Finally, the C-core experiment was used to verify the suppression effect of different segmented rotor structures on the RECL.
