Abstract
This study aims to analyze the application of skimming techniques to the optimal reading comprehension on students of STKIP MB. This research uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental and descriptive research. This research was conducted on students of STKIP MB Academic Year 2018/2019. The conclusions of this study include: (1) the level of reading comprehension after applying skimming techniques is better than the reading comprehension level before applying skimming techniques performed on the same research subject, (3) the level of reading comprehension by applying skimming techniques is better than the reading comprehension level by applying conventional reading conducted on different research subjects. So, reading with skimming techniques has a significant effect on optimizing students' reading comprehension.

Hasil penelitiannya menunjukkan tindak tutur yang terdapat dalam wacana persuasif imbauan publik adalah tindak tutur langsung, tindak tutur tidak langsung, tindak tutur konfliktif, tindak tutur kolaboratif, tindak tutur kompetitif, dan tindak tutur konvivial. Tindak tutur pedagang yang ada di pasar kaget GOR Agus Salim mempunyai karakteristik kebahasaan yang menarik untuk diteliti. Di pasar kaget GOR Agus Salim, latar belakang pedagang sangat bervariasi seperti dari segi pekerjaan; sebagian pedagang bukan merupakan penjual tetap, tetapi mempunya pekerjaan seperti PNS, IRT, Karyawan, dan sebagainya. Metode cakap digunakan karena terjadi percakapan antara peneliti dengan informan untuk memperoleh data yang selengkaplengkapnya. Peneliti pertama-tama harus memancing informan untuk berbicara langsung untuk mengarahkan percakapan tersebut dengan tujuan memperoleh data yang selengkap-lengkapnya sebanyak tipe data yang dikehendaki dan juga melakukan perekaman.
