Abstract

BETWEEN 95 and 100 per cent of newly moulted fourth-stage larvae of Anopheles quadrimaculatus Say (LTD strain, Diptera, Culicidae) die within 24 hr. after a 10-min. exposure to massive doses of suspended DDT (1 : 10,000, 1 per cent acetone)1. The purpose of this communication is to direct attention to a very remarkable decrease in mortality of newly moulted larvae to DDT when they have been anaesthetized with ether or carbon dioxide just prior to testing.
