Abstract
Apresenta-se uma análise crítica a respeito do uso de anabolizantes em pecuária de corte. São abordados os mecanismos de ação dos agentes androgênicos, estrogênicos e progestágenos naturais e sintéticos bem como os principais fatores que modificam seus efeitos. Analisam-se, ainda, aspectos de toxicidade dos resíduos destes agentes. Aborda-se, finalmente, a política e os conflitos no uso destes agentes no país.
