Abstract

Last February, SIGGRAPH published the proposed American National Standard (ANS) called 'The Graphical Kernel System' (GKS) [1]. Since that time there have been changes in the standard as the result of comments submitted during the public review of the standard and simultaneous work on the parallel standard being finalized in the international arena by the International Standards Organization (ISO). Changes in the body of the standard are essentially editorial, with certain passages clarified and corrections made. These changes are best analyzed by reviewing the entire document, which should be available from the American National Standards Institute in the first quarter of 1985.
