Abstract

It can be difficult for the community nurse to keep up with all the new stoma products; however as prescribers and/or nurses it is important to know what is available. More importantly, the community nurse needs to know when certain products may be beneficial for the individual ostomate, to help them to cope better with their stoma (Cottam and Porrett, 2005). The flanges or base plates and accessories will be discussed in future articles. In this article the merits of the bag will be explored.
