Abstract

Summary 1. An α chain variant of human adult hemoglobin (Hb Hasharon) in which the aspartic acid at residue 47 has been substituted by histidine has been found in a Jewish person. 2. During electrophoretic screening of 30,000 adult white Canadians in Manitoba no other instance of a hemoglobin variant with these properties has been found.
