Abstract

The hydrocarbons are the most used organic compounds in our daily life and that is really necessary. The demand for energy is increasing with every passing year. There are two ways to cater for this increase in energy demand, firstly by finding the new energy reserves / new techniques to produce useful energy and secondly by enhancing the performance of the existing energy consuming devices to save energy resources. The contemporary effort on the second option of improving system performance. There are wide ranges of application of Magnetic field in modern technology. Same effects are tested for hydrocarbon fluids (fuels and refrigerants). Tests performed on the internal combustion engine, vapour compression cycle, and improvement in the properties of hydrocarbon fuels viz thermal conductivity, viscosity and surface tension. Different techniques are discussed to reduce the viscosity of hydrocarbon fluids.
