Abstract

Reaction of N-salicylylidenepyridin-2-amine and boric acid in ethanol gives a boric ester (1) with N→B coordination bond. The experimental result shows that the process of the boric acid esterifying and the C-N single bond forming is a concerted reaction. Addition of boric acid to imine leads to boric ester of carbinolamine. The molecular structure is confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and 1H spectrum. The decomposition and reaction behavior of the boric ester is performed.
