Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate prospective science teachers’ attitudes towards environment in terms of different factors. Sample of the study was chosen from the Department of Primary Science Teacher Training of Kazim Kara- bekir Education Faculty of Ataturk University. In order to determine prospective science teachers’ attitudes towards environment “Environmental Attitude Scale (EAS)” was used. The reliability coefficant for EAS was found as 0,80. This scale consists of “environmental behaviour” and “environmental thought” sub-scales. Although “personal information form” was used to gather information about candidates’ sex, class and settlement. Scale was administered to 355 prospective teachers and results evaluated by SPSS packet programme. As a result, it is fonud that some factors effect environmental attitudes. Although one of the important finding is candidates are insufficient to reflect environmental thoughts to their behaviours.
