Abstract

The accuracy of Bayesian procedures was considered for estimation of parameters in the two-parameter logistic item response theory model. For the example data, all estimation procedures yielded comparable item and ability estimates. Simulated data sets were also analyzed using six estimation procedures for item parameters. Hierarchical Bayes estimation yielded consistently smaller root mean square differences and mean euclidean distances.
