Abstract

Between 1950 and 1965 there was a spate of intense activity to investigate the theory and applications of ferrite materials at microwave frequencies and a number of introductory articles and textbooks were published. Ferrite device design is now a mature science but many workers have missed out on the elementary understanding of the operation of ferrite devices. This paper attempts to remedy that loss, by providing a description of the interaction of a ferrimagnetic material with HF electromagnetic waves and its application to microwave and optical devices.
