Abstract

An intelligent voltage control (IVC) system is proposed in this paper. Accompanied with training and learning capabilities, this system can realized a fast and efficient voltage control after an emergency happens in a power system. Firstly, the system knowledge is acquired from off-line studies and then further accumulated from on-line experiences by learning. With this saved control knowledge, the searching solution space is then significantly reduced in focusing into a specified area. Within this solution area, the on-line control can quickly achieve a good system performance. With both of the training and learning scheme, controls for any emergency can be realized in a rapid and qualified response. A simulation in the New England 39-bus power system shows that this intelligent strategy is very efficient for real time applications.
