BackgroundAlmost one-third of children under 5 years old in Indonesia suffer from stunting. Stunting can be prevented optimally during pregnancy as the initial phase of the first 1000 days of life. This study aims to determine the effect of nutrition and reproductive health education of pregnant women in Bogor Regency, Indonesia.MethodsA quasi-experimental study was conducted among 194 pregnant women from August to November 2019. The pregnant women were randomly selected from four different villages in Bogor Regency. The intervention group (n = 97) received 2 h of nutrition and reproductive health education in small groups (four or five mothers per group) every 2 weeks for 3 consecutive months. This interactive education was given by facilitators using techniques such as lectures, role-playing, simulation, and games. The control group (n = 97) received regular health care services. A structured questionnaire was applied to collect data consisting of maternal characteristics, nutritional and reproductive health knowledge, attitudes, and practices in the intervention and control groups. Data were analysed using t-test and chi-square analysis.ResultsPregnant women in the intervention group indicated a significant increase in knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding nutrition and reproductive health after receiving education. The pre-test and post-test mean scores in the intervention group were 55.1 and 83.1 for overall knowledge, 40.2 and 49.0 for attitudes, and 36.2 and 40.2 for practices, respectively. In the control group, there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores for these three variables. There was a significant difference (P < 0.001) in the post-test mean between the intervention group and the control group, but the difference was not significant (P > 0.05) in the pre-test.ConclusionProviding nutrition and reproductive health education through small groups with interactive methods improves the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of pregnant women. This intervention has the potential to be replicated and developed for large-scale implementation by optimising collaboration between government, non-governmental organizations, and maternal and child health service providers.

Drug use by adolescents in Jakarta is an urgent public health problem. Many outreach programs have been created to stop drug abuse in schools. However, it is still unclear whether these programs are effective, especially in terms of how they can change students' knowledge, views, and behaviors. The focus of this study is students of Junior High School (SLTP) and Senior High School (SLTA) in Jakarta to evaluate how effective the socialization program for drug use prevention is. This research uses a qualitative approach, which involves in-depth interviews and focused group discussions. Data were collected from 20 students, 10 teachers, and 5 facilitators of socialization programs in high schools (SLTP) and high schools in Jakarta. The thematic analysis method is used to analyze the data to find patterns, themes, and perceptions related to program effectiveness. As a result of the socialization program, students understand the dangers of drugs better. Changes in attitudes and behaviors, however, are not always clearly visible. Most students stated an increase in their awareness. However, there is uncertainty about how this knowledge can be applied. The absence of parental support, irrelevant materials, and time constraints are some of the problems found by teachers and facilitators in running the program. The results of the drug prevention socialization program in Jakarta have succeeded in improving students' understanding, but it is difficult to consistently change attitudes and behaviors. Recommendations for improvement include increased parent participation, better socialization materials, and program adjustments to meet student needs.

The results of previous research on teachers' efforts in increasing motivation and learning outcomes in learning Islamic Education in Indonesia, until now, still show less than optimal results. Due to the ineffectiveness of the learning process carried out by the teachers and less professional methods used in the learning process given to students. This study aims to examine whether or not the use of Edmodo-based E-learning is effective by contextualizing and integrating the learning process of Islamic Education using internet technology, in the Blended Learning learning process. The research data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, forum discussions, and students' written evaluations. A mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods is used to analyze the extent to which teachers and students think about this online learning system and the results obtained from the features of the assignments that have been done by students. Researchers practised the use of Edmodo-based E-learning in the Blended Learning process at State Vocational High Schools (SMKN) in Jakarta. The results showed that the use of Edmodo-based E-learning in the bent learning process had not been widely used by teachers of Islamic Religious Education at Public Vocational High Schools in Jakarta. The results also showed that Edmodo-based e-learning in the Blended Learning process succeeded in facilitating student participation in online discussions and assignments, and could increase student interest and motivation in improving their learning outcomes. The results of this study indicate that learning activities must be developed based on sociocultural theory and a communicative learning system approach, so that they will be able to increase interaction and communication, through the use of Edmodo-based E-learning in the Blended Learning process, which is applied to student learning processes, in education Islam.

State Senior High School (SMAN) 96 is the first high school in Jakarta to be officially designated as a net-zero school with a Greenship Certificate by the Green Building Council Indonesia. In contrast, State Vocational High School (SMKN) 73 is not a net-zero school. The two schools are 100 m apart, located in Cengkareng District, West Jakarta. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of CO2 emission reduction technology in the two schools. This study used a quantitative method. Because the school setting is in the urban area, it is not easy to find so-called indigenous technology. This study will look at the best available low carbon technologies implemented in both schools. The results show that SMAN 96 has electricity consumption and CO2 emissions lower than SMKN 73 because SMAN 96 already using the energy-efficient devices/appliances and minimizing the usage of AC and refrigerator which can increase the CO2 emissions. To reducing CO2 emissions, the two schools already implementing the use of solar panels. Furthermore, by using the solar panels it can save the electricity consumption and also solar panels produces emissions smaller than total electricity usage.

Youths in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Nigeria, face significant barriers to accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services because of limited awareness, confidentiality concerns, restrictive policies, and provider attitudes. These barriers contribute to poor SRH knowledge and high rates of HIV infection, unintended pregnancies, and unsafe sexual practices. Digital interventions offer a promising approach to improve SRH outcomes, but evidence of their effectiveness in Nigerian university settings remains limited. This study assessed the impact of a mobile health (mHealth), internet-based, comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) intervention on SRH knowledge, sexual behavior, and service utilization among university students in Lagos, Nigeria. A quasi-experimental study was conducted among 600 undergraduate students (300 in intervention group and 300 in control group) who were selected from two public universities in Lagos, Nigeria, via multistage sampling. The intervention consisted of weekly live CSE webinars via Google Meets, peer-led WhatsApp discussions, and digital linkages to youth-friendly SRH services. Quantitative data were collected through self-administered digital questionnaires before and after the intervention. Data analysis included baseline and end-line comparisons via Pearson chi-square tests and difference-in-differences (DID) analysis to estimate intervention effects. At baseline, 57.7% of the participants in the intervention group and 49.7% of the participants in the control group had good knowledge of SRH (p = 0.05). A total of 41.0% of the respondents in the intervention group and 37.0% in the control group had ever had sex, and consistent condom use was low (23.6% in the intervention group and 28.8% in the control group). Only 26.0% of the intervention group and 23.3% of the control group respondents had access to SRH services. Post-intervention, SRH knowledge improved by 10.2% in the intervention group compared with 2.6% in the control group. Condom use during the last sexual encounter increased significantly by 11.7% (from 32.5% to 44.2%, p < 0.05), in the intervention group but decreased by 7.5% in the control group. Uptake of SRH services in the intervention group rose by 9% (from 26.0% to 35.0%, p < 0.05), alongside increased use of teaching hospitals and primary health care centres (PHCs). Sexual behaviour outcomes were mixed, with some indicators (e.g., multiple sexual partners) worsening post-intervention. The mHealth CSE intervention improved SRH knowledge, increased condom use, and enhanced the utilisation of SRH services among university students. However, its effect on risky sexual behaviours was mixed. For greater effectiveness, digital CSE should be integrated with broader SRH services.

Environmental problems such as littering, excessive use of single-use plastics, and low participation in greening activities are still widely found in the school environment, indicating the need for more systematic and sustainable awareness-raising efforts. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in junior high schools in Jakarta. The research used a qualitative approach with an evaluative design of the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model. The research data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, involving principals, teachers, and students. The results showed that the effectiveness of the program was strongly influenced by leadership commitment, participation of all school members, and continuous evaluation practices. Context analysis showed alignment between national environmental policies and school needs. Input analysis found key resources and strategies, while process analysis highlighted collaborative implementation. Product analysis showed positive changes in students' environmentally friendly attitudes and behaviors. This study concludes that the Adiwiyata program contributes significantly to shaping environmental values and habits in schools. The practical implication is that schools that want to develop environmental education should encourage inclusive engagement and implement a structured evaluation system. The results of this study can serve as a reference for schools that want to develop environmental education.

With preschool girls and elementary and junior high school girls, the recent trend in menarche, physical development, changes in uriuary hormones and oral mucous cells were investigated with the following results :1) Average age of menarche for 457 junior high school girls was 12 years and 3.8 months, somewhat younger than the hitherto reported.2) Menarche occurred most frequently in August, followed by April and January, and infrequently in February, May and September. This is nearly in agreement with the early reports. In term of season, summer ranked the highest in the incidence of menarche, followed by spring, winter and autumn in the descending order.3) The recent menstruant rate as investigated with 9, 285 elementary and junior high school in Maebashi, was 0.9 % in the 4th elementary school year, 6.4 % in the 5th year, and 23.6 % in the 6th year, and 58.4 % in the 1st junior high school year (twice that in the 6th elementary school year), 87.5 % in the 2nd year, and 96.5 % in the 3rd year. The majority of the menstruants in the 2nd and 3rd junior high school years had menarche in the 1st junior high school year.4) Physical developments in 106 junior high school girls were compared between menstruants and non-menstruants. Stature, body weight and chest circumference were all greater in average in the menstruant group, and the differences were statistically significant.5) Average physical development at entrance to junior high school was sought with total 519 girls of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year, and it was found nearly constant in the recent years, 6) Urinary FSH, which was low in early childhood increased with age. There was significant difference in this value between ages of above and below 10 years, but not between pre- and postmenarche in ages above 10 years.7) It was newly found that urinary LH attained the level of ovulatory phase of adult women already in girls of 2 to 5 years, that it was low from 6 years until menarche and that it again increased after menarche.8) Urinary estrogen increased with age, becoming abruptly higher from 12-13 years. No significant difference was seen between pre- and postmenarche.9) Urinary 17 KS increased, like urinary estrogen, with age. At the age of 13 years it attained the level of the mature woman or sometimes even surpassed it.10) In normal mature and postmenopausal women, parallel findings were obtained between vaginal and buccal smears. However, gingival smears of all the cases showed numerous highly cornified anucleated cells so that it was difficult to appraise difference.11) Examination of maturatiou index on the basis of buccal smear revealed parabasal cells, a small nunber of superficial cells and numerous intermediate cells in school girls (aged 8-9 years). However in puberal girls (aged 12-13 years) before and after menarche, no para-basal cells were observed, while superficial cells significantly increased over that in school childhood, accompanied by sufficient estrogen activity. In contrast with this, gingival smear showed numcrous anucleated cells in both school childhood and puberty, and not any consistent tendency as did buccal smear. It can therefore be concluded that buccal smear, but not gingival smear, can indicate approximate estrogen activity, and that it can be used for the prediction of menarche.
