Abstract
Carbon monoxide (CO) adsorption on Pt(100) and Pt(110) single crystal electrode surfaces in neutral or acid aqueous solution was studied by IRAS. The interconversion of adsorbed CO on Pt(100) between on-top, asymmetric bridge and symmetric bridge-bonded sites was induced by applied electrode potentials. The unstable CO species is created during the interconversion of their sites. On Pt(110), on-top and bridge-bonded CO appear and the latter moves into the new on-top site by anodization.
